Furniture Designed and Built Just for You

Have an idea for a piece of furniture that you just can't find anywhere else?

At Sawdust Emporium, I work with you to design and build one-of-a-kind furniture around your

space, personal style, and needs.

You may have a detailed design in mind, a photograph of something that caught your eye, or simply an idea of what you'd like a piece to accomplish. Wherever you are starting, we'll work together to develop a design that is uniquely yours.

Your Idea - My Craftsmanship

Custom furniture is an opportunity to create something that is more than simply functional; it creates a piece that is uniquely you.

Together, we will determine the style, proportions, materials, wood species, finish, and design details that will make the piece work beautifully in your home.

Custom commissions can include:

   Dining and kitchen tables

      Coffee and side tables

        Consoles and sofa tables

           Media cabinets

             Entryway furniture

               Benches

                 Display and occasional furniture

Other one-of-a-kind pieces designed to meet your needs style

Every piece is individually designed and built in my workshop using carefully selected materials and   traditional woodworking craftsmanship combined with modern techniques.

From an Idea to a Finished Piece

1.  Start a Conversation

Tell me about your project, your space, and what you have in mind. Don't worry if you don't have a finished design. Photos, sketches, measurements, and inspiration images are helpful, but sometimes a simple conversation is the best place to begin.

2. Develop the Design

We'll discuss the dimensions, materials, style, function, and details that will make the piece right for you.  For most projects I will develop sketches or 3D drawings to help visualize the finished piece and get your approval before construction begins.

3. Review the Proposal

Once the design and specifications are established, I will provide a proposal defining the piece, materials, estimated timeline, and price.  There are no surprises about what I am building before the work begins.

4. Creating Your Piece

Once you have approved the proposal and provided the initial payment, I'll begin building it in my workshop.  Because each piece is individually built, I take the time to pay attention to the details—from selecting  and laying out the wood to joinery, shaping, and finishing.

5. Delivery

When your piece is complete, I will arrange delivery or shipping based on the size of the piece and your location.

Made for You — Not Mass Produced

There is something different about furniture that is designed specifically for your home and built

by hand.  Every piece of wood has its own character, and natural variations in grain, color, figure, and texture are part of what make solid wood furniture unique. I limit the number of commissions I accept so that each project receives the attention it deserves.  The result is furniture that isn't just made to fit a space—it is made to belong there.

Have an Idea?

I would love to hear about it.

Whether you're looking for a specific piece or simply have an idea you'd like to explore, start by

telling me a little about your project.  Include whatever information you have—approximate dimensions, photographs, sketches, inspiration images, preferred wood species, or anything else that might help me understand what you're looking for.

I'll review your inquiry and get back with you to discuss the project and the best way to move forward.

Nakashima style mid-century modern side table designed to meet the client's style and fit a specific location in their home.

Modern organic dining table being constructed now with a quarter sawn white oak top and black walnut leg assembly.  The natural curves and negative spaces make the piece feel light and airy yet all anchored to the floor.  This table will easily seat 6 - 8 people but it can be modified to seat more people if the space allows.
